The 500 m² private residence was designed for a client with a distinct vision: a bold concrete structure that reflects strength and minimalism, paired with subtle Japanese-inspired aesthetics.
The house seamlessly combines raw materiality with calm, refined details—creating a harmonious balance between modern brutalism and serene Japanese design principles. A covered swimming pool is integrated into the layout, allowing year-round use while becoming one of the home’s defining features. Large openings, clean lines, natural textures, and thoughtfully curated spaces come together to deliver a home that feels both powerful and peaceful, tailored perfectly to the client’s lifestyle and personality.

This residence presents a striking example of contemporary minimalism, defined by its monolithic concrete façade and strong horizontal roofline. The architecture relies on clean geometric volumes with almost sculptural precision, giving the home a bold and confident presence. The wide, cantilevered roof visually lightens the heavy concrete mass, creating a refined contrast between solidity and delicacy. Slim clerestory windows tucked beneath the roofline introduce natural light without interrupting the purity of the concrete planes. Vertical slatted elements—seen in the garage façade and window shading—add rhythm and bring a subtle Japanese influence through their simplicity and order. The entry sequence is intentionally understated: a recessed doorway framed by clean lines and shadows that enhance the sense of depth. Landscaping reinforces the Japanese-inspired aesthetic, using greenery, stones, and a soft, natural palette to balance the raw materiality of the structure. Overall, the design embodies calm strength—merging brutalist clarity with serene, nature-aligned Japanese sensibilities.

The interior reveals a dramatic double-height living space where exposed concrete walls, steel beams, and natural wood finishes create a calm yet powerful atmosphere. The openness of the layout allows each zone—living, dining, and kitchen—to flow effortlessly into one another while maintaining a sense of spatial hierarchy. A defining feature of the space is the internal courtyard, framed by vertical wooden slats that echo Japanese design principles. This courtyard introduces natural light deep into the home, softening the raw material palette and creating a visual connection to nature. The greenery acts as a living sculpture, bringing balance to the concrete surroundings and offering moments of stillness within the bold architecture. Furniture and décor follow a restrained, earthy palette: leather chairs, textured fabrics, stone surfaces, and warm wood accents. A long dining table and sculptural light fixtures emphasize the home’s blend of minimalism and craftsmanship. The polished concrete floor enhances the reflective qualities of the space, while large openings visually extend the interior toward the outdoors. Overall, the design expresses a harmonious fusion of brutalist structure and serene Japanese aesthetics—where strong geometry meets natural softness, and the courtyard becomes the quiet heart of the home.
